Xavi on Haaland meeting: We're working on the present & the future

The Barcelona coach reportedly met with the Norway striker earlier this week

Barcelona coach Xavi Hernandez did not want to speak about the possible signing of Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland, who he reportedly met with in Munich on Tuesday.

"I can't give details, I can just say that we're working on the present and the future," Xavi said when asked about the meeting. "If we have anything to announce, we will let you know. We are working hard on the present and the future for the good of the club."

Xavi, who has overseen a marked improvement in results and performances over the last month, is still in the early stages of his project at Camp Nou. He was categorical on the Haaland issue though: "I have nothing to announce."

Haaland, Joan Laporta's priority

Haaland is one of the top strikers in European football and one of the most wanted. As well as Barça, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Manchester City all dream of signing him.

The Norway international has become an obsession for the Barça president, Joan Laporta, ahead of the summer transfer window. The club are looking for a name to lead the sporting project and be the team's reference for the next decade.
