Xavi Hernandez's signing as Barcelona coach will have to wait at least until the summer. Sources consulted by SPORT say the Al Sadd manager wants to become Barca coach but the question is over when it will happen.
Meetings between Barcelona's delegation - Oscar Grau, Eric Abidal - and Xavi have served to bring the two sides close together and look at future projects, but it may not be that Xavi takes over immediately from Ernesto Valverde.
The ideal situation for Xavi is to take over at the end of the season. Joining halfway through is not the best way to implement his working method and taking on the changes he feels right for the squad.
Xavi would, on top of taking risks personally, would also break commitments in Qatar if he took over now. Al Sadd will take part in the Copa Emir final next Friday and he wants to head the team for it. His dilemma continues.
