Xavi new deal with Barca sealed, set to be announced Friday

Xavi Hernandez's renewal as FC Barcelona coach will be a fact in the next few hours. The agreement between the Catalan coach and FC Barcelona has been complete for the last few days and now all that remains to be done is to sign the contract, which, unless there is a change of schedule, will take place this Friday.

After the announcement of Alejandro Balde's renewal until 2028, Xavi's extension until 30 June 2025 could be completed this Friday. The initial idea was to sign until 2026, although the Terrassa player will finally extend his contract for one more season. In the last few days, the remaining details have been ironed out and the necessary documentation has been drawn up. 

If the agendas of those involved are not altered in the coming hours, Xavi will sign this Friday. In principle, the signing would be in the afternoon, as the team trains at 11:00 - the coach always arrives two hours earlier - and then, at 13:00, there is the press conference prior to the game against Celta.

In this way, a magnificent piece of news for Barcelona fans will arrive just when the team is performing at the most spectacular level. That's two 5-0 wins in a row and, on top of that, the growing feeling that this year the Catalan coach's team is ready to stand up to the big names in Europe.

A week ago, Xavi himself commented at a press conference that his extension was just around the corner. "My renewal will be announced shortly, in the next few days. For me, my performance as a coach is also important," he said, implicitly explaining the fact that he is finally going to have a shorter contract.

Xavi, who according to Deco "earned his renewal" by winning the last league title, was never worried about the delay of his extension. The problems of fair play meant that his case was moved to after the transfer window had closed.
