Xavi's message for Messi after Leo matches his Barça appearance record
Messi made his 767th appearance for Barça in the win vs. Huesca on Monday
Lionel Messi doesn't just break goal records. He also breaks appearance records. Against Huesca on Monday, the Argentine equalled the number of games played by Xavi Hernandez for Barcelona, 767, to become the club's joint record appearance holder. On Sunday against Real Sociedad, he will move past Xavi.
Former Barça midfielder Xavi, now coaching Al Sadd in Qatar, was one of the people to send Messi a message.
"Huge congratulations, Leo!!" he wrote on Instagram alongside an image of the two embracing when they played together at Barça. "It's an honour that you have matched this record, congratulations friend."
