The French forward is in the final six months of his deal at Camp Nou

Barcelona coach Xavi Hernandez insisted on the idea that he believes Ousmane Dembele should commit his future to the club because he won't be better off anywhere else.

Dembele, 24, is out of contract at the end of the season and is free to sign a pre-contract agreement with other clubs now he's in the final six months of his deal.

The French forward has a renewal offer on the table from Barça, who are still waiting for a response from his agents.

"I'm relaxed because now it depends on the club, Ousmane and his agents," Xavi said in a press conference on Tuesday.

"It's time for Ousmane to make an effort and to think about himself and his future. The best option for him would be to stay at Barcelona.

"But what happens now depends on him and his agents. I hope he makes an effort. He won't find a better sporting project, so let's see what decision is reached. It's a question of time now."

Renewing Dembele's deal would allow Barça to register new signing Ferran Torres, but rumours around the Frenchman continue.

Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain... and now Liverpool have all been linked with the forward, who cost Barça over €100 million in 2017.
