The midfielder also restated his desire to one day be the first team coach at Camp Nou

Former Barcelona midfielder has defended Luis Enrique's side against criticism they've lost their style.

With more emphasis on the front three of Leo Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar, there have been complaints from some quarters that Barça have ditched their passing philosophy.

However, Xavi has told French newspaper L'Equipe that it's normal the focus falls on the South American trio in attack.

“The romantics say that it’s not the same Barça -- of course," he said.

"But if you have three players that make it unnecessary to [keep possession for as long], what’s the problem?”

As he has done on several occasions now, Xavi also reiterated his desire to one day coach Barça.

It's too early for him to be in the running to replace Luis Enrique in the summer, but sooner or later he'd love to be prowling the Camp Nou touchline.

"My aim is to arrive as a coach at Barcelona," he added. "You never know what will happen, it's not only up to me.

"It depends on what you're capable of, the situation, the moment, the circumstances. But my objective, what I want to do, it's certain that it's to work for Barcelona."
