The coach of Al Sadd thinks he's ready to take charge at the Camp Nou

Xavi Hernandez spoke in Barcelona on Thursday and was asked a few questions by the media about his aim to be Barca’s coach.

“I am always on the market,” said Xavi, the current Al-Sadd coach. “I want to make it clear that I feel prepared to coach Barca, although the media and other sectors say the opposite.”

“I haven’t spoken with Laporta for three or four months, he’s decided that the best thing is that Koeman continues in charge and you have to respect that. I have a very good relationship with Joan.”

Asked about not coming out and backing Victor Font, he said: “I decided to stay loose from any candidate. I spoke with Font and Laporta and left it clear that I wouldn’t position myself, that I wouldn’t be ‘active’. I explained to them what my idea was about the Barca of the future.

“I don’t know when it will happen, I am not in a hurry. I am prepared and the truth is I didn’t imagine I would have had two offers to take over the team at this point (from Font and previously Bartomeu).”
