The former Barcelona midfielder has been chosen as Xavi's replacement

Xavi Hernandez could be the new Barcelona coach officially in the coming hours. He will meet with Al Sadd officials on Friday to finalise his exit and no problems are expected.

The idea is that it's made official soon and Xavi and his coaching staff travel to Barcelona on Nov. 3 to start work. Barça are waiting for the outcome of the meetings and no one from the club will travel to resolve the situation. Xavi has the word from the Al Sadd hierarchy that he's allowed to leave if there's an offer from Barça and the details just need to be ironed out.

The speed of the announcement depends on how soon he can leave Al Sadd. He's agreed a two and a half year contract with Barça, who have accepted he will not be able to start until the middle of next week, after the vital Champions League game against Dynamo Kiev.

Xavi has communicated to Barça that negotiations are going well, but there are still things to sort in the coming hours. In any case, the club have had various contact already with the coach over squad planning and actions that need to be taken short-term to improve the performances. His arrival is on the home straight.
