"Xavi is a great guy and he will do a great job at Barça"
Barcelona have a new coach and the good times are coming back, some believe
Philippe Coutinho is one of the first Barcelona players to speak publicly about new coach Xavi so far. He is enthusiastic about the Catalan midfielder’s return to the club.
“Xavi was a great player and he’s a club idol, he’s returning home. I hope that he has a lot of success with the group that we have,” said Coutinho at a Brazil press conference in Sao Paulo.
He says he had an encounter with Xavi in Qatar in March when he went there to have his knee looked at. “We were speaking and I know what a great guy he is, I’m sure he will do a great job with Barcelona.”
Coutinho did not know that Xavi had been in talks about potentially being Brazil manager after the 2022 World Cup, something the coach admitted on Monday.
