Xavi: We want to change the story against Bayern

The Catalans have never won a game at the Allianz Arena against the German champions

Xavi spoke to the media ahead of Barcelona’s clash at Bayern Munich. The coach is convinced his team can win, something they haven’t done for a while against the Germans. That said, he was conscious that it won’t be easy.

"There are a lot of expectations, but tomorrow's game doesn't change anything at all, whether we win, draw or lose, no conclusions can be drawn", he said, before adding "it's a challenge to win here, we haven't done it, nine months have passed since the last time and everything looks different, we arrive at a much better time, we have been working together for nine or ten months, we have improved in many aspects and we feel capable of competing. We have the feelings, the hope and the challenge that we can finally win and change history and the dynamic.”

Despite all of that, he knows that "we play against one of the best teams in the world. They beat us comfortably, but we have changed, we are in a great moment of form and we want to show it.”

Xavi thinks it will be “an even game, we both want the ball, press high, want the ball back as soon as possible, we suffer without it, we leave space behind us. It will be an intense game and there will be a big battle for the ball.”
