The worrying case of Barcelona striker Víctor Barberà

Club Brugge will sign Barberà on a free transfer in the summer

Barcelona U19 striker Víctor Barberà, who plays regularly for Barcelona Atlètic as well, is out of contract at the end of this season.

Barberà arrived from Damm in the 20/21 season and during his years as a Barça player he has made strides in the youth team (the team's top scorer last season), in the Youth League (this year's top scorer, with seven goals) and with Barcelona Atlètic (top scorer of the team in the Spanish third tier with six goals).

But his contract is up on June 30 and Barcelona have not yet tied him down with a renewal. As a result, he will move to Club Brugge as a free agent.

Barça must rethink what to do in these cases because his departure represents not only a sporting loss but also an economic one.

Remember that last summer Ferran Jutglà, a precedent similar to that of Barberà, was transferred for €5 million plus 10% of any future sale to the same Belgian club.

So, Barça made money from that sale, but this time they lose money for not having renewed Barberà when he was racing through the club's teams.
