Wolves have to pay Barça €6m for not signing Trincao permanently
The Premier League side opted against the €30m deal for the winger
Wolverhampton Wanderers have to pay Barcelona €6 million for not taking up the option to sign Francisco Trincao, according to the BBC.
Trincao joined the Premier League side on loan last summer with an option to make the deal permanent for €30m. However, it means they are due 20% of any future sale, with Barça negotiating for the player to leave on loan again.
After a bright start at Wolves, Trincao's performances dipped and the English team decided not to execute the clause they had agreed with Barça at the end of the campaign.
At the same time, Barça returned Adama Traore to Wolves, a player they also had an option to buy for €30m.
Barça are now in talks with Sporting Club de Lisbon over a deal for Trincao to return to his homeland. The Portuguese side want him on loan with an option to buy, but there is no agreement yet.
In the meantime, Trincao was among the players present for medical tests at Barça on Monday as they started preseason. Xavi is happy to take a close look at him as his future is decided.
