Barcelona were unable to find the net at the most inopportune moment of the season. The miracle of the remontada remained just to a pipe dream, because despite the team’s efforts they could not hit the target. Barcelona had scored 26 goals in the Champions league but at the decisive moment, they were left with a zero.
Barcelona had 19 shots at goal and only one was on target, an effort from Lionel Messi that Buffon repelled without too many problems. Not even the follow up from the Argentine helped, blasting into the side netting.
Buffon therefore had a quieter game than he could have dreamed of and Messi has still never scored against the legendary goalkeeper.
Juve on the other hand forced Ter Stegen into a couple of saves. Not even Paco Alcacer’s arrival could change the game, the Italians defending maturely and cleverly.
