Winger Abde makes Barcelona debut in a half empty Camp Nou

Sergi Barjuan's first game in charge of Barcelona also saw another debut, with the B team coach handing minutes to Moroccan winger Abde Ezzalzouli.

Abde came on to make his first appearance for Barça in the second half of Saturday's 1-1 draw against Alaves. He becomes the 27th player to feature this season and thr fourth from the B team, after Gavi, Nico and Balde.

He came on in the 80th minute, replacing Nico, and left a couple of interesting details. Things didn't come off for him the first time he got the ball but his head didn't drop and he won a free kick on the edge of the box that Philippe Coutinho sent into the stands.

Barça paid €2 million to sign him for the B team from Hercules in the summer but curiously he has not been a regular for Barjuan with the B team, although he did start the last match against Alcoyano at the Estadi Johan Cruyff.

It was a shame, in addition to the result, that Abde's debut came in a half empty Camp Nou. Despite restrictions now being lifted, only 37.278 fans attended the game. It's true that 26,000 season ticket holders took a leave of absence this season due to uncertainty over Covid-19 -- and only 5,000 have asked to recover their tickets since -- it's a holiday weekend and Alaves isn't a huge game, but it's a problem for Barça.
