Humphry Nijman has explained why his client chose PSG over the Catalans
Georiginio Wijnaldum's agent Humphry Nijman has spoken about the negotiations with Barcelona to take his client to Camp Nou.
In the end, Dutch midfielder Wijnaldum decided to accept an offer from Paris Saint-Germain to join the French side on a free transfer from Liverpool.
"We had conversations with Barcelona, we tried to reach an agreement with them and it was all very advanced," Nijman told the podcast Here We Go.
"For any player, Barcelona is a big challenge, but it's the same with PSG. In the end, the player chose Paris.
"Inter had been an option and would have been if not for their financial problems. We knew Koeman would have loved to have him because they knew each other from the national team. Bayern were also interested."
The agent continued: "He had a great time at Liverpool, but his contract expired. They tried to renew his deal, but the decision had been made.
"Both Barça and PSG put an offer on the table and we had to choose. Leonardo was professional and serious and that Pushed Gini to choose Paris. He also spoke with Pochettino about his role in the team."
