Barcelona can't afford Mbappé outright but could they pull of a player exchange?

The bombshell dropped by the newspaper 'L'Equipe' about telephone contacts between Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain for Kylian Mbappé has shaken up the market.

The operation is very unlikely due to the financial situation at the Catalan club, but what is clear is that in Paris there is a lot of interest in several Blaugrana players who would fit in Luis Enrique's project if, in the end, Mbappé ends up leaving.

In Paris, they do not even rule out a loan move for the player and will do everything possible to avoid a move to Madrid by negotiating with any European or Saudi Arabian club.

Barça do not have the financial muscle to afford a move for Mbappé, but they do have top-level players, assets with very important valuations.

PSG have always been attracted to French players and both Ousmane Dembélé and Jules Koundé would be two profiles that could fit in perfectly at PSG. Dembélé has only one year left on his contract, while Koundé has shown his discomfort at playing at right-back.

Another name that PSG's sporting department has always liked is Frenkie de Jong. In fact, PSG fought until the last second to sign him and finally the player decided to go to Barça.

The interest has been maintained despite the fact that there have been no approaches in recent years like Manchester United's. He is a highly valued player.

And the last one is one of Luis Enrique's weaknesses: Gavi. The Blaugrana youth player was clearly his bet in the Spanish national team and it is clear to him that he will become a world star.

When Lucho negotiated with Chelsea, Gavi's name was on the table, but there was never any approach for a player who wants to stay at Barça. For Luis Enrique's project, he would be a fundamental piece for sure.

It is clear that there are players that PSG are very interested in, but the operation of Mbappé to Barça would have to have the player's OK, something practically impossible due to his salary, his future demands and because it seems that he has been signed by Madrid for 2024.
