What will happen to Marc Cucurella?
Eibar will buy him and Barca will buy him back, then what next?
The next few weeks will be key to finding out where Marc Cucurella will play next season. Eibar will tell Barca this week they will execute the 2 million euro option to buy on the loan star, while the Catalans will immediately buy him back for 4 million, as is an option in the deal.
Cucurella starred in the 2-2 draw between the sides on Sunday.
Converted into a winger, Cucurella took advantage of a Barcelona mistake to score and he almost grabbed another too, firing too high.
However Cucurella’s future, despite his quality, lies outside of Barcelona.
With Jordi Alba as the starting left-back it will be hard for him to get game time and he wants to play.
Eibar will have to make a huge economic effort to keep a player who is one of the most sought after in La Liga.
Sevilla and Betis have show interest in him. Barca are hoping to get up to 10m euros for him and the Andalusian sides might well pay it.
Outside of Spain there is interest in the Bundesliga, with teams like Eintracht Frankfurt and Borussia Monchengladbach interested in him.
Cucurella doesn’t want doubt hanging over him the whole summer and the intention is to take a decision quickly.
