The English winger nearly joined the Catalans on loan from Man City
Raheem Sterling was “excited with Barcelona’s loan offer” according to The Sun. The forward wanted to join but the deal broke down when Xavi preferred Ferran Torres from Man City.
During the end of last season Sterling lost protagonism with City and a potential separation of ways was mooted. The player recognised in an interview that he was annoyed with his lack of playing time.
The Athletic said that he was open to a Barcelona switch, which would have been a loan until the end of the season. However he has improved lately, winning player of the month in December in the Premier League, and has got more minutes.
