What Barca's contract offer for Sergio Busquets will look like

The Catalans want to keep the holding midfielder, who is out of contract at the end of the season

This morning, Josep Maria Orobitg, Sergio Busquets' representative, visited the Ciutat Esportiva, where he had a meeting with Barça's sporting management, according to Gerard Romero.

The Barça captain, whose contract expires on 30 June, had already been sounded out a few weeks ago through Orobitg, when Sergi Roberto signed his renewal, about the possibility of Busquets agreeing to stay at the club, as coach Xavi Hernandez wishes.

At Monday's meeting, Barça's sporting directors promised to make a formal offer to Busquets this week.

As SPORT explained, this proposal will be for one more season, with an option for another depending on the number of games played, something that has already happened with Sergi Roberto. Financially, the proposal will be very low in relation to the current contract and will be around seven million euros gross.

Busquets, who was in favour of leaving Barça this season and even asked to leave during the last winter transfer window, which both Xavi and the club refused, will soon be able to evaluate the Blaugrana offer. His wish is to be able to decide soon to plan his future and that of his family.

The player from Badia is now seduced by the possibility of staying at Barça because he has seen that he is still a more than important player for Xavi, but he wants to study the club's proposal well, being aware that Barça is obliged to lower more than considerably the wage bill of the first team.

If he finally decides not to stay at Barça, he will have to opt for one of the offers he has. His agent has received official interest from more than one MLS team and a Saudi Arabian team has also shown interest in Busquets, although no formal offer has been made.
