| sport

There is good news from Brazil about the state of Vitor Roque's ankle injury. After fearing the worst with the possibility that the young striker would have to undergo surgery following a heavy tackle against Internacional, Athletico Paranaense have said in a medical statement that surgery will not be necessary.

The club said: "Vítor Roque underwent tests this Friday, following the sprained right ankle suffered in the match against Internacional. With imaging tests and evaluation by the club's Medical Department, a ligamentous injury to the syndesmosis of the right ankle was confirmed, without the need for surgery".

Vitor Roque, after ruling out surgery, has already begun treatment to recover 100% from an ankle injury that has had FC Barcelona closely monitoring its severity. Let's remember that the Catalan giants have already announced his arrival for 2024 and, therefore, have been interested at all times in the exact extent of the injury.

The injury occurred yesterday in the match between Athletico Paranaense and Internacional. Vitor Roque suffered a very hard tackle that forced him to leave the pitch with obvious signs of pain. Today, tests have ruled that there is an important injury, but that he will be able to avoid the operating theatre.
