Vitor Roque, impossible in January as things stand today

Unexpected news at Barça, as the arrival of Vitor Roque for next January is now deemed impossible. The club's financial situation makes it very challenging for 'O Tigrinho' to land in Barcelona during the winter transfer window, with only two options on the table to make it possible.

Barça closed this transfer window with the acquisition of Vitor Roque, one of the most highly-rated 'gems' in the world, knowing that Athletico Paranaense would not part with their player until next January, with a prior agreement with the Blaugrana club.

Now, the situation seems to have taken a 180-degree turn. The Barça board sees his arrival in winter as impossible, purely for financial reasons. However, there are two avenues that could make his signing possible.

The sale of a player would be one alternative, but it is not the club's intention. The other would involve securing new extraordinary financial agreements, similar to the ones offered by Libero Football Finance, which obtained a 29% stake in Barça Studios.

Despite the situation with Vitor Roque, Barça is approaching other cases with optimism, which they are close to finalizing in the coming weeks.

On one hand, there is Xavi's renewal. The club is making progress in closing the agreement definitively, and the official announcement could be a matter of days. Initially, there was talk of a renewal until 2026, but they will ultimately opt for a 'Guardiola Formula' year-to-year approach; it's better for the club in terms of financial fair play.

With Deco back from vacation, this deal will be sealed soon. Similarly, Barça expects the return of the new Sporting Director to confirm the renewals of Lamine Yamal and Alejandro Balde, two operations that are already considered done deals.
