Villarreal convince Barca winger Ilias Akhomach

As we have already reported in SPORT, Ilias Akhomach and Barça have parted ways after a life linked to the club. From a very young age, trained in the club's youth ranks, the player will now embark on a new stage at Villarreal, where he will be free after the end of his contract. 

The skilful winger from La Masia will sign for the 'yellow submarine' in the next few days, thus linking himself to the club for the next four seasons, with which he would agree a clause of between 20 and 30 million euros. 

Although he had previously been linked with Milan and Premier League teams such as Leeds and Arsenal, who offered him better financial offers, the player has been convinced by Villarreal's sporting project. In a club that is committed to young talent, Ilias is confident that he will be able to grow and succeed at La Cerámica. 

Thus, Akhomach will put himself under the orders of Quique Setién to prepare for an exciting season in which, although he could sign with the reserve team, he would be a 100% part of the first team. At the same time, he could also play some games with the 'B' team, which plays in LaLiga SmartBank, if the situation requires it. 

He is a player who can carry the weight of the attack, which is why, in addition to occupying the winger, as he has done over the years, the club also see him as a link between the midfield and the front. A position similar to half forward so that he can play freely in three quarters of the pitch.

Villarreal, under Quique Setién, have opted to give many opportunities to young players. Especially in attack, where Nicolas Jackson, Yéremi Pino and Baena have been fundamental to the team's good season.
