The tightest Liga in years is set for an exciting ending with four teams in the hunt

Barcelona's defeat to Granada at Camp Nou on Thursday had major implication on the La Liga title race.

Ronald Koeman's side no longer depend on themselves in the race to be crowned the champions of Spain.

If they win their final five games, picking up 15 points, they will not win the league if Real Madrid also win out from here.

Right now, the only team with the title in their own hands are league leaders Atletico Madrid (73 points).

However, Diego Simeone's side have to come to Camp Nou to face Barça on May 8, corresponding with the 35th game of the season.

The reason Barça will finish behind Madrid if they win out is because, in the event the end the season level on points (they both have 71), the head-to-head record between the teams decides who comes top.

Zinedine Zidane's side won 3-1 at Camp Nou against Barça and 2-1 at Valdebebas earlier this month.

Next weekend is likely to be huge as the top four all face each other, with Sevilla (70 points) also right in the race: Barça vs. Atletico and Madrid vs. Sevilla.

The key for Barça is to win all their games: Valencia, Atletico, Levante, Celta and Eibar. Then they must wait for Madrid to slip up: Osasuna, Sevilla, Granada, Athletic and Villarreal.

The tightest Liga in years is set for an exciting ending.
