Victor Font not thinking about a Barcelona without Lionel Messi
The precandidate for the next presidential elections spoke about Xavi and Messi
Josep Maria Bartomeu does not have long left at Barcelona, whether or not he is ousted in the upcoming vote of no confidence. Victor Font, one of the candidates to take over as the club's president, spoke about his project to Onda Cero.
"It's essential that the Barca-Messi association continues," said Font. "I would not have given Luis Suarez to Atletico, I would have negotiated."
He added: "Bartomeu should have called elections already because the club's situation is critical. The most important thing about the vote of no confidence is not bringing forward the elections but stopping this board from taking decisions."
Font wants Xavi Hernandez in as manager.
"When we started the project, our candidates to lead the sporting side were Guardiola and Xavi. Xavi told us that if Koeman does well, then he should stay as coach, so we talked to him about being our Ferguson."
