The ball had already gone out of play when Digne crossed it

Malaga's players were furious the early goal was allowed to stand

Barcelona took the lead against Malaga with a goal which did not go down well with the visiting players at Camp Nou. The game had just got started when, in the second minute, Lucas Digne crossed for Gerard Deulofeu to score.

However, the ball had gone out of play before Digne crossed it, as replays clearly showed. THe Malaga player, seeing that the ball had gone out of play, stopped, allowing Deulofeu to drift in and open the scoring for Ernesto Valverde's side.

The goal was allowe to stand by referee Pablo Gonzalez. The Barça players celebrated with Deulofeu while the Malaga players took their complaints to the officials.

Once again, it showed the necessity for the Spanish league to start using VAR, something which LFP chief Javier Tebas is taking his time to introduce. If last season it was Barça who were disadvantaged (against Real Betis), this time they were favoured by the lack of technology.
