Vanderson will wait for Barca until 2024

If Barça had enough financial muscle this summer and were not under the sentence of the 40% rule (i.e. that for every 100 million of non-extraordinary income, only 40 million can be used to sign players) imposed on them by Javier Tebas, they would go for Vanderson, the Brazilian full-back from Monaco who has just turned 22.

His signing right now is a pipe dream because the transfer price could reach 30 million euros and his club is not in the mood to part with him.

Barça, however, have already started to work on his incorporation in the summer of 2024, despite the moves they will make in this window to bring in a wing back at an affordable price -- they can invest between 10-15 million euros. And, in this sense, SPORT, already advanced the story that there is interest in Iván Fresneda, an 18-year-old who plays at Valladolid, liked by the coaching staff and Barca's technical teams.

Vanderson, to whom Barcelona have already expressed their interest, has decided to stay one more year in Monaco, where he will spend his second full season in Ligue 1, having joined the Principality club in January 2022 from Gremio.

He wants to make the most of his chances of joining the Blaugrana in a year's time, and there is nothing better than continuing to grow at a springboard club. Moreover, his desire coincides with Monaco's strategy. His new sporting director, the Brazilian Thiago Scuro, who comes from Red Bull Bragantino and who arrives backed by his predecessor, Paul Mitchell, has declared him non-transferable. Therefore, any offers that may come in, mainly from the Premier League where he is well-liked, will meet a dead end.

Deco has full confidence in Vanderson. At the end of 2021, when he was an external adviser to Joan Laporta, he warned the technical team of the development of the then Gremio full-back. That was a golden opportunity, because the Gaucho club had just got relegated. Barça, however, took too long to make a move and the player ended up signing for Monaco for 11 million euros.

In August last year, Mateu Alemany tried to sign him (at the time, no one could have imagined that Jules Kounde, who was the star defensive signing, would end up as a full-back), but his club closed their doors to a move. Everything suggests that, in 2024, there will be a third chapter in this Blaugrana soap opera for a player who has just made his debut with the Seleçao and who has a great future due to his physical and technical attributes.
