Van der Sar giving up on keeping Mazraoui

Ajax director general Edwin van der Sar has spoken about the club's chances of keeping important players like Mazraoui and Onana beyond the summer when their contracts are up.

In an interview with Het Parool he said: "If this becomes a fashion it's a threat to Ajax. We want to win and become champions and go as far as possible in Europe. You need the best players for that. That's the short term, you need to protect the club in the long term too."

Onana is looking at an Inter move while right back Mazraoui's future is in the air. Barca like him as a potential dest replacement and Mino Raiola is his agent.

"We've lost months in negotiations," added Van der Sar. "We'd like to keep him but now it's the middle of December so you know where it's going."
