Ernesto Valverde called Turan a "talented" player after he left club

"Being a Barcelona player was the wildest dream I had," Turan said

Barcelona coach Ernesto Valverde saw his squad reduced by one on Saturday with confirmation that Arda Turan has joined Istanbul Basaksehir on loan for two-and-a-half years.

Turan has not played a single minute under Valverde but the former Athletic Club boss still had some nice words for the departing midfielder.

"Turan's a very talented player," he said. "He has shown that in the time that he's been, not just here at Barça, but at Atletico Madrid, too.

"Maybe he didn't get the chances he wanted this season, but [I have] nothing else to say really."

Turan had earlier posted on Twitter: "A dream does not become reality through magic. As a dreamer, I know it takes courage, determination and hard work.

"Being a Barcelona player was the wildest dream I had. And I will always be proud of myself to make it happen. But now, it's time to say goodbye. At least for a while.

"I'd like to thank my teammates, who helped me to enjoy every single moment on and off the pitch. It was a privilege to play alongside you. Every single fan who once chanted my name at Camp Nou. I've loved every minute of fighting for you. And the club that made not only my, but many of the Turkish kids, dream come true.

"Hidden somewhere inside 'The Beard', still there is a smile. Thank you for letting me go back to my country to find it. I will do whatever it takes to become the player that you've fallen in love with once. No matter the distance between us. All the special memories will be in my heart, giving me strength and lighting up my path."
