Valverde: Title is not won even if we beat Atletico

Ernesto Valverde is taking on the game against Atletico Madrid like a final, but he says even if Barca win it, La Liga is not sewn up.

Should the Catalans win at Camp Nou on Saturday, they would stretch an eight point lead to 11 with seven matches remaining.

“Many people said La Liga was over in January and later, when you don’t win, and your rivals do, the title race is back on,” said Valverde.

“While the mathematics don’t say (it’s over), you have to keep going until the end.

“We will try to stay faithful to our game. The three points are very important to both teams, in our case to extend our advantage and for them to cut the gap. Mathematically the distance is not definitive.”
