The coach does not believe the defender's form will be hit by off-field problems

Barcelona coach Ernesto Valverde, speaking after Sunday's win over Huesca, confirmed that he has been able to speak with Gerard Pique about the defender's incident with the Guardia Urbana.

Centre-back Pique was pulled over by the Guardia Urbana on Friday and routine checks revealed that he was driving with an invalid licence.

Each person starts with 12 points on their driving licence in Spain and have points docked for committing traffic offences. Pique was driving without any points on his licence.

Valverde explained that "I have spoken with him and I don't think it's going to affect him. His name's always on everyone's lips, many times without him wanting it to be. I don't doubt that he will manage the situation in the best possible way."

The penalties for driving with zero points on your licence vary from a fine or community service to a six-month prison sentence.
