Valverde reveals a nice gesture made by late president Nunez to him
The former Barca president died this week and Valverde spoke about him
Ernesto Valverde has recalled a nice gesture made to him by late former Barca president Josep Lluis Nunez.
The ex-president was the man who signed him for Barcelona back in the day as a player.
Valverde said, ahead of his press conference on Tuesday: “I would like to have a reflection on one of the most important presidents in the history of the club, the longest and it was under him I arrived at the club.”
Later he told a story that took place after he won the double with Barca last season.
“At the end of the season he sent me a letter congratulating me for the league title and the Copa del Rey, and for how things had gone. He didn’t imagine it when he signed me as a player that I would be a future Barca coach, and I did not imagine it either. It was an emotional letter - just as he was. I am grateful to him, for all he did for the club, and we will dedicate tomorrow’s game to him.”
