Valverde remains calm amid Levante appeal over the 'Chumi case'

The Barça coach was slightly critical of the fuss over the RFEF's rules

Despite the fact the 'Chumi case' is no longer a 'case', what is true is that Levante still have a small hope that their appeal will succeed.

The Barcelona B defender played in the first leg of the Copa del Rey tie against the Valencia-based side after picking up his fifth booking of the season the weekend before in Spain's third tier.

But as the Copa is a different competition, Barça (rightly so, as has become apparent) believed that he was available for selection at the Ciutat de València.

After Levante's complaint was rejected by La Liga for being too late, Barça were drawn with Sevilla in the last eight, who they will face on Wednesday in the first leg.

"I know a lot has been said about this but I can only say the same as I've already said," Valverde explained. "I have the feeling that we acted correctly."

The Barça coach also took advantage of the question to criticise the rules: "I read the rules and that's the feeling I have. Maybe it can seem that you can read [the rules] in one way or another.

"What the law has to be is clear, not for whoever writes it, but for whoever reads it. The sensation we have is that we have done things correctly."
