Official: There are a couple of surprises in Valverde's first Barça squad

Following the final training session before the trip to Bilbao, Ernesto Valverde has named his first official squad list for the LaLiga opener. There's been a lot of speculation in recent days as to who would be the ones to miss out.

However Valverde has decided to leave out Todibo, Wague, Arturo Vidal, Messi and Arthur.

Carles Perez is the surprise inclusion as an attacking option off the bench with Messi out. Despite speculation linking Rafinha with a move away, he's also included in the squad as the two South American midfielders are lacking fitness.

Here is the squad list in full: Ter Stegen, Iñaki Peña, Nelson Semedo, Piqué, Lenglet, Jordi Alba, Sergi Roberto, Rakitic, Busquets, Coutinho, De Jong, Carles Pérez, Luis Suárez, Dembélé, Rafinha, Junior, Aleñá, Umtiti and Griezmann.
