The Dutchman has enjoyed a spectacular pre-season. And against Arsenal in the Gamper he was man of the match playing at pivote. His good performances may see Valverde pick him ahead of the Catalan.
If De Jong plays as pivote he will likely have Ivan Rakitic and Sergi Roberto ahead of him.
