Valverde jokes he's jealous of Pique's Davis Cup revamp plans
The coach says he has no problems with the defender's other interests
Barcelona coach Ernesto Valverde has praised Gerard Pique's plans to revamp the Davis Cup, tennis' leading team competition which pits countries against each other.
Pique spent the international break in Shanghai and then in Madrid finalising plans for the new-look format. It's seen him criticised by some parts of the press, with the suggestion he's not focused on his football.
However, Valverde defended his defender -- and joked he wished that he'd had the idea himself.
"The issue with Pique, the journeys and all that, it doesn't worry me," the coach said.
With irony, he added: "The only thing that irritates me about Pique is that he had a brilliant idea and that it didn't occur to me. It's an extraordinary idea, that's the only thing. Oher than that, there's no problem with him. He's 100 percent, as always."
