Valverde has high hopes for youngster Riqui Puig
Puig has become one of the sensations of the summer at Barcelona and has impressed everyone with his performances, including Valverde
Ernesto Valverde has spoken about Riqui Puig's situation at Barcelona this season as the first team prepares for the match against Alaves. The coach recognises that there's a lot of hope being placed in the academy star who impressed everybody in the Joan Gamper Trophy match.
"The plans for Riqui Puig are the same as we had before. We're very satisfied with what he's doing," commented Valverde.
However, the coach pointed out the reality of the situation and that Puig will play for Barça B this term. "He's stay with Barça B but we'll call on him to help us throughout the season. He's performed very well during preseason and his immediate future looks really good."
Valverde insisted once again that it's with Barcelona's B side where Puig must show his quality. "He'll be with the B side and, if he continues on the same path and shows that he deserves it, he'll have an opportunity with us," concluded Valverde.
