The Catalan club will weigh up their options after the midfielder injured his ACL

The serious injury suffered by Rafinha against Atletico Madrid could have consequences for Ernesto Valverde.

The Barcelona coach had the ideal wildcard in the versatile footballer and admitted in his press conference before the game against PSV Eindhoven that he could now look to sign in January.

Valverde explained that "signing or not is something we have to analyse. It was a surprise [the injury to Rafinha] because of how it came about.

"The January transfer window is close and we will have time to analyse the circumstance and assess them. It's a big loss for the team and it's a shame for [Rafinha]."

As for if more youngsters could get chances, the Barça coach preferred not to make any promises.

"[Carles] Aleña is already a first team player and others like Riqui Puig, Collado, Monchu and Oriol Busquets are training regularly with us," he added.

"We count on them, as well as the others we have in the first team, like Denis [Suarez]."
