The Colombian defender is poised to move to Barca on loan this winter

Without giving names or destinations, Marcelino Garcia Toral explained that Jeison Murillo is leaving his Valencia squad. The coach was interviewed by Superdeporte and in an advance preview of the chat, Marcelino spoke about “a favourable situation for everyone” and said that Murillo will not be replaced.

“It was always going to depend on him whether he stayed or not. If he didn’t it’s because there was a favourable situation for everyone. So it will be when he takes a decision,” said Marcelino.

“He did not ask me to leave. We spoke on occasion, and I explained to him his situation sincerely as part of a dialogue.”

With Murillo not in the coach’s plans, he doesn’t think it will be necessary to replace him.

“I don’t think we will sign a centre-back, he has played few minutes. The team is sorted from this point of view defensively. Ruben Vezo can help us at centre-back and full-back, Wass can play on the side too. Where we are precarious and have to look for a solution is in the centre of the pitch.”
