The Barcelona forward wants to play for Argentine in the competition this summer

According to TV3, Lionel Messi will have the Chinese-manufactured coronavirus vaccine to be able to play in the Copa America this summer.

The vaccine will be sent directly to Barcelona to ensure he will be available for the competition, that will be played in Colombia and Argentina in June and July.

Conmebol, the governing body of football in South America, are going to oblige all players called up for the tournament to be vaccinated.

The Conmebol president Alejandro Domínguez revealed as much earlier this month, saying it was a necessity for the Copa to go ahead as planned.

Conmebol have secured 50.000 doses of the Sinopharm vaccine -- which has still not been authorised for use in Argentine -- so the Argentine players will have to go to Uruguay to have it.

That will not be the case for Messi, as the European-based players will have special dispensation to be vaccinated in the cities where they live.
