The English club's new director of football is keen on a couple of Barça players

Tottenham's director of football Fabio Paratici has arrived in Barcelona to negotiate the transfer of Ilaix Moriba, according to the Independent.

Leipzig are the other team pushing for the young midfielder, but it's the Premier League side who are closest to matching Barça's asking price.

Ilaix's future is still in the air as we move into the final days of the transfer window. His refusal to renew his contract has seen him sent to train with the B team.

His agents have been looking for an exit for weeks, but the window shuts on Tuesday and no final decision has been taken yet.

Despite Leipzig leading the race, Tottenham's emergence on the scene could change things. Ilaix's agents want a move to Germany, but Ilaix has doubts, given he doesn't want to spend a year on the sidelines not playing (Leipzig don't seem ready to match Barça's price tag).

Barça, though, have no doubts. Either a club pays €20 million for him or he spends the season in the stands before leaving for free next summer.

Emerson, also interesting Spurs

Meanwhile, according to the Daily Telegraph, Paratici's arrival in the Catalan city could also serve to establish contact over a move for Emerson Royal. Spurs want to take him on loan with an option to buy.

The Brazilian right-back returned to Barça this summer from Real Betis with the intention of fighting for his spot in the team and it's not in his plans to leave.
