Barça coach Xavi Hernandez is said to be keen on re-signing the Liverpool man

Barcelona want to strengthen in January. They have already announced the signing of Dani Alves, who cannot be registered until January. The Brazilian may not be the only player to return to Camp Nou, either.

According to the journalist Pedro Almeida, Barça coach Xavi Hernandez also wants Thiago Alcantara back at the club and the Liverpool midfielder would be open to returning to Catalonia.

Xavi has already translated his intentions to president Joan Laporta during his first week back: he would like Thiago to return.

Thiago's in his second season at Liverpool but his time at Anfield has been marked by fitness problems. Muscle injuries this season have limited him to just 247 minutes across seven games in all competitions.

In his first season in England, he played 30 times and scored one goal. At 30, he could now return to Barça at a time when there is a lot of talent coming through in midfield at the club.
