Xavi has renewed until 2025 for now but a performance-related add-on could trigger another year

Xavi Hernández's contract renewal as the coach of FC Barcelona is now official. The agreement between the Catalan coach and the Blaugrana had been reached a few days ago, with everything finalised on Friday at the club's offices.

Xavi's contract has been extended until June 30, 2025. The initial idea was to sign until 2026, but ultimately, the Terrassa native will extend for one more season.

In recent days, the remaining details have been ironed out, and the necessary documentation has been prepared.

However, as pointed out by 'El Periódico,' there is a clause in the coach's contract that would allow him to extend his contractual relationship for one more year, from 2025 to 2026.

This will be automatically triggered if Barcelona wins either the La Liga or the Champions League from this point onwards.

If this season ends without any titles, Xavi and his coaching staff would have a second opportunity to add to the club's trophy cabinet in the following season and sign on for one more year.

In a month and a half, it will mark two years since Xavi took over the reins of the first team, following the dismissal of Ronald Koeman as the coach.

Since then, the coach has secured two trophies, both in his second season in charge: the Spanish Super Cup and La Liga.
