As well as winning La Liga and the Copa, Barça have a third target

They could break their record for amount of league goals in a season

FC Barcelona have two big challenges facing them in the final month of the season. The first is to hunt down Real Madrid and win the league. The second, which in theory is easier, is to win the Copa del Rey final against Alaves.

However, aside from these two tough tasks, the Blaugrana are chasing another objective: If Barça score eight or more goals in their remaining two games, they will set a new club record.

With two games to play — against Las Palmas and Eibar — Luis Enrique’s side have scored 108 goals, seven less than the 115 managed in 2012-13 with Tito Vilanova as first team boss. If they score eight or more, then, they will establish a new club high.

Luis Enrique came close in each of his first two seasons in charge. In the treble year they scored 110 league goals and last season they scored 112. Both were enough to help Barça win the league.

On a global level, Jose Mourinho’s Real Madrid hold the recored. In 2011-12, Los Blancos ended the campaign with 122 goals.
