The boys parents, who adore Leo, officially named their son 'Lionel Messi Maier dos Santos' in honour of the Barça star

Aside from the football on show, the Copa America 2019 can often spring up other curious moments. One of those is the fact a Brazilian supporter literally has Lionel Messi's name on his back.

The young boy, who is only six years old, was named Lionel Messi Maier dos Santos by his parents. The reason behind that is as simple as you could imagine. His father Gabriel Quadros dos Santos and mother Lisiane Maier are huge admirers of the Argentina and Barça star.

The 'Brazilian Lionel Messi', born on the 14th September 2012, left his home on Friday to make the trip to see his idol train. However, he was only able to see him pass in the team bus.

The little Messi plays football and, naturally, is a forward. He supports Barça and after being handed the name in honour of Leo, never misses a match of his namesake.

Despite failing to meet his hero, the Brazilian Messi will continue to try and grab the attention of Leo and explain his story to him.
