The steps Barca will take to bring Leo Messi back

The club are planning the path forward for the return of their biggest legend

Barça already have a clear strategy in place to bring Leo Messi back to Camp Nou. It is not going to be easy, but the Blaugrana are very optimistic ahead of negotiations that have not yet begun, but look set to come to fruition. Barca will wait first to get the OK from La Liga on its viability plan to lower their salary limit and then it will start the final offensive for the Argentine footballer and his entourage, something that has not yet taken place.

SPORT has already advanced that next week, Barça executives will meet with LaLiga to explore an agreement on lowering the salary cap. La Liga president Javier Tebas has been specifying that the Blaugrana club will be over 200 million euros, but steps are being taken to resolve the issue. Mateu Alemany has been preparing a viability plan for some time now, which contemplates, above all, a reduction in expenses and budget that would allow this salary limit to be reduced. Next week's meeting is key to unraveling this issue and Barça see it as a good approach.

The plan includes salary cuts in some cases and, obviously, income from some sales of players. In addition, Barça will cut back in other areas of the club to bring it closer to the figure imposed on them by La Liga. The cuts could take longer than this summer, and it would involve meeting a whole series of financial targets. If La Liga gives the go-ahead - there are precedents with other clubs - Barça could be in a position to sign as long as it fulfills the requirements to the letter. And from there, it will have to choose well the targets to incorporate so as not to exceed that wage bill again. Messi's new contract would be one of the key points in this negotiation.

With the approval of La Liga, Barça would already be in a position to negotiate openly with Messi's entourage. Leo's father, Jorge Messi, was already forceful in his last visit to Barcelona, assuring that the conditions for the player's return were not met. Now they could be. Barça, before making their offensive, will wait for the divorce between Messi and PSG to be finalised, something that has not officially happened. The club, for now, has only been launching public messages wishing for the return of the Argentinian star, but has not gone any further.

If Messi decides to break off the renewal negotiations with PSG, Barça will enter the scene. And then they would plan an attractive financial offer but within their means to convince the Argentine. It is clear that it will not be an astronomical proposal, but they trust in the good predisposition of all parties to reach a final entente. It would be a one-season contract and would absolutely have the sporting OK. Xavi Hernandez wants Messi because he understands that he is still the best player in the world and would add talent while being a real market opportunity.

For now, all parties are going to keep quiet despite the fact that Barça have spoken openly about their desire to negotiate. Everyone knows that for this operation to be viable, LaLiga will have a fundamental role in approving the viability plan. Everyone is interested in Messi's return to Spanish competition and Barça has worked very hard to make this possible. There is still a long way to go and it will be weeks before there is any clarity on the issue, but in May it could all come to a head. At Barça, however, it will be clear whether or not they will be able to sign him in the coming weeks. He is on the way.
