Both teams were beaten on Wednesday, a surprising night in La Liga
Real Madrid and Barcelona’s defeats in the sixth game of La Liga were a big surprise. Barcelona lost to bottom of the table Leganes, while Madrid stumbled against Sevilla.
The defeats show the bad situation both sides are in. It has been more than three seasons since they both lost in the same round of fixtures.
That was back in January 2015, when Barcelona lost 1-0 at Real Sociedad in the famous Anoeta beating that sparked the club’s charge towards the treble.
Earlier in the day Real Madrid stumbled 2-1 against Valencia at Mestalla. Barcelona lost the chance to overtake Madrid that week, but won the league by two points eventually.
