President Laporta will give Koeman the chance to lead Barça again after the summer

SPORT have learned that Ronald Koeman will remain as Barcelona's coach next season following weeks of speculation about his future.

Barça president Joan Laporta announced on Tuesday that there was more chance he would stay than go. Further contract between Laporta and Koeman on Tuesday and Wednesday has led to a definitive decision that he will continue at the club.

Before confirming Koeman would go into the second year of his contract, which expires in 2022, Laporta wanted several guarantees ahead of next season.

According to SER, one of the demands is that the Dutch coach returned to a 4-3-3 formation and forgets the idea of playing with a back three.

The report says that Koeman explained that if he changed formation last season, it was because of how the squad was built last season and he has not problem changing back if the right pieces are compiled.

Another aspect that needed to be resolved, as revealed by SPORT earlier this week, was that Koeman's contract needed to be brought up to date with the club's financial situation.

The new board are working on reducing the wage bill but offering bonuses based on performances. In this way, Koeman will also be affected and could even have his deal extended to 2023 as a reward if certain objectives are met.
