Real Madrid's hugely controversial win against Real Sociedad on Sunday took them top of the league. They benefitted from three debatable refereeing decisions as they won 2-1 in San Sebastian to move ahead of Barcelona.
Barça themselves had given Madrid the chance to move into first place by failing to beat Sevilla on Friday. They drew 0-0 at the Sanchez Pizjuan.
There are still eight games to go in the title race, with both teams now level on 65 points. Madrid lead the way due to their superior head-to-head record.
