The reason why Memphis Depay announcement is being delayed
The Dutchman has agreed to sign for FC Barcelona
The signing of Memphis Depay for Barca is almost completed. The player has given the ‘yes’ to Barca and we’re waiting for it to be made official. The reason for the delay is Netherlands coach Frank de Boer.
Per RAC1 on Tuesday, De Boer wants his team totally focussed on the Euros. Depay started against Ukraine in a 3-2 win. The former Barca player, now coach of his national team, wants no distractions.
“Just wait, the news will come,” said Depay, hinting that the deal is seen up. If they beat Austria on Thursday and qualify for the next round then the coach might allow Depay to be announced on Friday.
