As SPORT have learned from sources close to the club there is no date set for them to meet
The meeting between Jorge Messi and Josep Maria Bartomeu to negotiate Lionel Messi’s new deal still doesn’t have a date. Although the father and agent of the player has been in Barcelona for a week, he has not met the president of FC Barcelona to speak about Messi’s future. The objective of the club is to close it in the first third of 2017.
As SPORT have learned from sources close to the club there is no date set for them to meet and it is most likely to happen after Christmas now. As we said in earlier stories, the negotiations will take place discreetly and without rush.
At Barcelona they are totally calm about the future of Messi, whose contract expires in June 2018. Messi wants to stay and the club wants him to stay too.
